Playgroup Hosting Guidelines and Toy Use Reminders

Hosting playgroup is a simple way to give back to the Cheverly community. Whether you want to host a themed event or just supervise a free-play session, the CPRC relies on volunteers to make these events happen.

How to Host: A Step-by-Step Guide

  • Sign Up & Announce: Once you have signed up, send a heads-up to the CPRC listserv (cheverlyparent@googlegroups.com) to let everyone know the gym will be open. Feel free to invite neighbors and friends.
  • Get the Key Fob: Coordinate a fob exchange with Genée Robinson. You will need this to access both the outer doors and the interior gym doors.
  • Set Up: Turn on the lights using the switch. Pull toys down from the stage and set up the play space. Coffee and treats are always appreciated, but they are optional.
  • During Playgroup: Have fun connecting with other families! We ask that grown-ups stay engaged and help guide safe play. You are welcome to host a specific theme or keep it simple with free play.
  • Clean Up & Lock Up: Please clean up all trash, food, and toys before leaving. Turn off the lights, and the doors will close and lock behind you automatically as you exit. Coordinate the return of the key fob to Genée.

Toy Storage & Safety Guidelines

To stay aligned with Town administration guidance, please follow these updated rules:

  • The Stage is Off-Limits: Grown-ups, please help manage the cupboard area and keep children off the stage entirely to ensure everyone’s safety. Nothing should be left out on the stage after playgroup ends.
  • Cupboard Organization: Please return all toys to the cupboard on the stage at the end of the session. Toys should be placed inside or neatly on the cupboard. The cupboard door has been fixed, so putting things away is easier than ever.
  • New Gym Rule regarding Wheels: Per new direction from the Town administration, we no longer permit scooters, bikes, tricycles, or skates in the gym during playgroup.
